Wrong Cables
There are five different types of cables used in genuine GHDs.
Pre Mk3, Mk3 and early Mk4 models - Type 1 cable
This is the most common type of cable socket end and was used for many years. These cable are available from the shop here.
Mid Generation 4.2B models - Type 2 cable
Later GHD 4.2 and SS4.0 straighteners have a different style cable connector. We now stock this part on our shop in black / pink / purple. If you would like to swap the cable you have for one of these, please see the bottom of this page.
Please replace this cable and socket with a type 3 cable and cable socket (see below)
GHD 5.0 and later 4.2B models - Type 3 cable
We can supply brand new cables and sockets that are compatible with this type 3 cable socket via our shop - GHD Type 3 Cable. For a fitting guide see the MK5 cable replacement page.
GHD Eclipse
The GHD Eclipse uses a new type of cable which we now stock via the shop - GHD Eclipse cable. Replacement is tricky as the Eclipse irons are hard to get apart, however we have a guide here. Trevor Briscombe who runs our sister Cloud9 repair website has got the knack, so you could use his repair service (even though it is aimed at repairing Cloud 9 irons!) and send your eclipse irons to him for cable replacement. Note however that the cable is the only part of this model that can be repaired!

Fake GHDs
Fake GHDs can often use different cable styles. Because there are so many different versions of fake GHD we can't say for certain which type of cable you'll need, however if it's not the normal GHD cable, then it could be one of these, we do however suggest that you do not attempt to repair a fake pair of GHDs for safety reasons:
Returning Cables
If you purchased the cable from us and it's not right, you can either return it for a refund or request an exchange if one of the other types of cable we stock is suitable.
